Monthly Letter

November 2011

Dear Parents:

November is right around the corner ushering the cold, crisp days of late fall. The St. John’s community is abuzz with activity despite the change in climate. We are all planning our holiday activities and we ask that we all remember our school and parish events. Your generosity during this time to our Thanksgiving Baskets and food drive will be greatly appreciated by all.

We give our sincere thanks to Michaela Desmond and her committee for another successful Walk-a-thon. Also, I would like to thank Dina Bona and the “Night at the Races” Committee for a fun and profitable evening. These events help to keep our tuition affordable and build community.

Several Board Committees are seeking members this year. The School Board members are selected from committee members. Board committees include Finance, Technology and Facilities, Athletics, Development, Public Relations and Alumni, School Life and the Liturgical Committee. If you would like to become a member of any of these committees or would like further information, please contact Kathy Trainor at extension 340.

I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation as we pilot a new drop-off procedure. Beginning on November 28 we will begin our daily morning valet service. The school doors will open for at 7:50 am to alleviate traffic back up and ensure that classes begin in a timely manner. Please remember the rear parking lot is reserved for faculty parking and bus usage. Parents may not enter the rear parking lot after 8 am and before 3:30 pm. This is necessary to ensure the safety of all the children.

Our annual Book Fair will take place in the library on November 14 and 15. Banbury Cross Children’s Bookstore will once again provide wonderful selections of quality books to our students and families. Books are a priceless gift for all. All proceeds are used to replenish our school and classrooms libraries.

I am extremely grateful to our parents and volunteers for their continued commitment to St. John’s School. Your level of volunteerism beyond your required hours is a true blessing to our school community. I thank you for your sharing your time and talent with St. John’s School.

Sincerely,
Maureen Kelleher
