Lunch Program

Dear Parents,

We are excited about some changes to the lunch program that we would like to tell you about. As you know, we are now participating in the Federal Lunch Program and are eligible for reimbursement for not only lunch but also breakfast and snack.

Under the Federal Lunch Program, at lunchtime we are required to offer 5 servings of food, one from each of the 4 food categories (along with one alternate):

  1. Meat/meat alternative
  2. Bread/bread alternative
  3. Vegetable/fruit
  4. Fluid Milk

The breakfast program, which we are starting on October 1st, now requires us to server 4 choices:

  1. 2 servings of either bread or bread alternative
  2. Meat/meat alternative
  3. One serving of milk
  4. Vegetable/fruit or full-strength juice

The extended day program will now offer a snack to children staying in the afternoon.

The additional healthy food requires additional help from our parents in the kitchen. Therefore, when a parent volunteers at lunchtime, they will only be volunteering in the kitchen. They will also be required to ensure the cafeteria is in satisfactory condition for the incoming students.

We look forward ti a happy and healthy new lunch program and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the new procedures. Shoudl you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Maureen Kelleher, Angela Teehan, or Sandy Finelli.

Sincerely,

Maureen Kelleher,
Angela Teehan,
Sandy Finelli
